FAQ

  • What is a PSJ?
A primitive wilderness hiking experience that strengthens your relationship with the Lord. Depending on the adventure, however, it could be a kayak trip!
  • How far are we hiking?
Each trip is set up a little differently depending on many factors. Generally, the spring break trip in FL is anywhere from 30-40 miles over an average of 5 days. During the kayak experience, the hiking is limited. =-) Please contact our staff for specific information on each trip.
  • Can I bring my own equipment?
Mostly, we have all the camping and hiking equipment you may need. However, this is decided on based on the trip and the leaders. Please contact the leader of the specific trip.
  • What if I don't have any camping or hiking equipment?
Mostly, we have all the camping and hiking equipment you may need. Please contact the leader of the specific trip.
  • What do we eat?
Food is included in the trips. Please inform the leader if there are any allergies or dietary restrictions.
  • Where does the PSJ take place?
Please see the list of available trips for more specific information.
  • What should I bring?
Each trip is a little different. Here is a general list, however, please refer to which trip you are attending for more specific information.
  • Do I have to sleep in a tent?
We have tents available for use. They are very easy to set up and take down, as well as being light to carry.
  • Is there an age limit to the PSJ?
The minimum age for the PSJ is 14, however, exceptions have been to allowed for 13 year olds to attend provided they are both physically & emotionally mature enough the endure the challenges they will face on a PSJ. Our experience has been that many 13 year olds are not physically large enough to carry a fully loaded backpack for the distance required. We have found in most cases 13 year olds who lack one or the other will not have a positive experience. However we know there are exceptions. In order for an exception to be considered, we ask for a recommendation from a PSJ alumni be sent to the trip’s Trail Leader. The recommendation must advise that the individual is both physically and emotionally mature enough to safely endure the PSJ experience while maintaining a positive attitude. If you would like to request an exception do the following: Complete, submit & Pay the application & $25 registration fee. Ask a PSJ alumni to submit a contract form with the recommendation. The trip’s Trail Leader will review the recommendations, and get back to you by the registration deadline.
